Phoenix on track to update its van fleet

Phoenix Healthcare Distribution has announced the roll out of 39 new vans designed to exceed current GDP standards, including ambient temperature control.

New van fleet

The distributor of pharmaceutical and healthcare products says it will assess the new vans in operation over the next few months as a pilot, with a view to upgrading its entire van fleet by 2020.

Alan Dennis, head of transport at Phoenix said: “Across all our business and operations we are making huge investments to push standards ever higher and we always aim to be the best in the market. That includes our first-rate transport fleet, but we want it to be even better.

“That’s why we have been working in partnership with Mercedes and Paneltex to produce the bespoke fitted vans which post extreme temperature chamber testing are now currently in an operational pilot across the country. Over the next few weeks and months we will assess what further improvements, if any, we could make before upgrading the rest of our national fleet in excess of 450 vehicles.”

The company says that in addition to exceeding distribution standards, the vans are kitted out with a cockpit display to improve drivers’ working conditions and a more environmentally friendly refrigerator unit.
