Boots launches Home Assist service

Boots UK has teamed up with Tunstall Healthcare to launch ‘Home Assist’, a new service that provides round the clock, remote monitoring support for older people.

The Home Assist service aims to reclaim some of the independence and confidence that can be lost as a person gets older and provides reassurance and peace of mind for family members and friends that support is at hand for their loved ones, explains Boots UK.

Developed using Boots customer feedback, the service allows users to contact the Tunstall support team directly 24/7 via a button on a base unit hub that is installed in their home, or via a pendant, which is connected to the hub, that they can wear around their neck. The Tunstall support team can then contact emergency services or their nominated family member or carer if help is required.

Exclusive to Boots UK and delivered by Tunstall Healthcare, Home Assist has three different packages which can be customised according to the key needs of the user. This includes remote monitoring for falls, smoke detection and winter chills where sensors in the home raise an alert to the Tunstall response centre in the event of needing assistance. The service is also the only one of its kind to offer incoming reassurance calls as an option.

Jamie Kerruish, category director for healthcare at Boots UK commented: “We are delighted to be working with Tunstall Healthcare to offer the new Boots Home Assist Service to our customers and patients. We hope that the service not only increases accessibility to products that help all of our customers but also brings added support and reassurance to individuals living alone and to their loved ones.“
