New consultation skills training from CPPE

The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) has launched a brand new consultation skills resource for the whole community pharmacy team.

The resource is designed to offer flexible learning and quick reminders on effective consultation skills for all patient-facing staff. It consists of a set of learning cards for group or individual learning, which include links to interactive video activities.

Developed in collaboration with national pharmacy bodies, it is hoped the new cards will help all pharmacy staff improve their communication and consultation skills, as well as encouraging reflection on practice through a variety of topics, activities and tips.

A set of the cards, a letter from CPPE and a guide on how to use them will be sent to every community pharmacy in England and should arrive by the end of February.

Sally Greensmith, regional tutor at the CPPE, commented: “We are very excited about this new resource which will be useful for the whole pharmacy team. During the development phase, the cards have been well received by independent community pharmacists as well as multiples, some of whom are already making plans on how they can integrate the cards into their own learning portfolios.”
