CPPE to launch AKI learning campaign

The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) is launching its next learning campaign, this time focusing on acute kidney injury (AKI), on 19 October at the Pharmacy Show.

CPPE has teamed up with the UK Renal Registry and its Think Kidneys programme to highlight the risks of AKI and encourage pharmacy professionals working in all sectors of practice to think about how they can help prevent it.

All registered pharmacy professionals in England will receive the distance learning programme, a campaign leaflet containing six challenges and a Think Kidneys leaflet this October.

Matthew Shaw, deputy director of CPPE, says: "Acute kidney injury awareness and prevention is a key priority for NHS England as AKI is an insidious yet preventable condition. Pharmacy professionals in all sectors can make a real difference to patient outcomes by being alert to the possibility of acute kidney injury in people taking certain medicines or seeking advice about urinary symptoms."
