CPS writes its ‘prescription for delivery’

Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS) has published its own plan for the delivery of the Scottish Government’s latest pharmacy strategy, arguing that it was not given enough input into the original document.

In its ‘Prescription for delivery’, the CPS responds to the Scottish Government’s ‘Prescription for excellence’ by calling for pharmacies to be used as healthcare hubs to reduce pressure on GPs and A&E departments. CPS has also called for the national roll out of ‘serial prescribing’, which involves a GP prescribing a prescription for either 24 weeks or 48 weeks to be dispensed at regular intervals. It believes that this system would help to build relationships between GPs and pharmacists, as well as supporting patients to get the best out of their medicines.
