GPhC freezes fees for pharmacy technicians

Registration fee levels for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy premises will remain at current levels for the financial year 2016/17, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has announced.

Despite the fact that the GPhC is dealing with more and more cases each year, its governing council made the decision to freeze fees for a year based on plans to reduce operating costs. “We are committed to using registrants’ fees efficiently and effectively,” commented Duncan Rudkin, chief executive of the GPhC.

Explaining the GPhC’s decision, he added: “It is our intention to achieve greater efficiencies on top of what we’ve already achieved over the past financial year, while continuing to achieve our ambitious aims set out in our strategic and corporate plans.”
