Jyoti Rajdev

When Jyoti Rajdev left her banking career to work at her husband’s new business – Deeping St James Pharmacy in Lincolnshire – she had no idea of the positive impact it would have on their local community.

Jyoti and her team go above and beyond the usual pharmacy services by providing free training to help people – specifically mums – get back into employment, and fundraising for local as well as national charities.

Jyoti was highly commended in the TENA-sponsored Customer Care category, with judge and Avicenna chief executive Salim Jetha stating “the result speaks for itself: new business growth is entirely due to their drive to provide the best service”, while Pharmacy Complete managing director Deborah Evans saying that “Jyoti demonstrates that if you put customers first, business success will follow”.

Constantly striving to improve, Jyoti asks customers for feedback and builds this into her personal development. She has a keen awareness of pharmacy’s place in easing pressure on primary care, saying: “We value the wellbeing and health of our customers, so we spot symptoms at an early stage, which reduces the number that need to go to the GP and means they recover faster.”

Jyoti has harnessed social media’s influence too, setting up a Facebook page so that local residents know exactly what is on offer.

Jyoti puts her success down to hard work, and treating staff as well as she does customers, saying: “We put our values of trust and professionalism before profi t, and then the rest falls into place.”
