New RPS public health standards

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has published new standards to help pharmacy teams in England and Wales deliver good quality public health services. Developed with input from the Royal Society for Public Health, the Faculty of Public Health and the Pharmacy and Public Health Forum, the ‘Professional Standards for Public Health Practice for Pharmacy’ set out nine key areas for achieving excellence in public health through pharmacy. The framework will also assure commissioners and customers that pharmacy-based public health services are delivered to the highest possible standard.

RPS chief executive Helen Gordon said: “This is the first time pharmacists, pharmacy teams, pharmacies and commissioners have been given a full set of professional standards, which will drive excellence in the design and delivery of public health pharmacy practice in England and Wales.”
