Pharmacy figures honoured

Five leading figures in the world of pharmacy have been recognised in the New Year Honours list. Dr Keith Ridge, the chief pharmaceutical officer for England, received a CBE for services to the pharmacy profession and to patients, while Ash Soni, vice chair of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society English Pharmacy Board, was honoured with an OBE for services to community pharmacy and the NHS.

In addition, Sue Sharpe, chief executive of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC), was appointed OBE for services to the pharmaceutical industry; Kevin Barron, chairman of the All-Party Pharmacy Group, gained a knighthood and Professor Richard Parish, chair of the Pharmacy and Public Health Forum, received a CBE for services to public health. Ash Soni described his honour as “a tribute to all those pharmacists out there who deliver incredible patient care,” while Dr Ridge said that his achievements were a team effort and Sue Sharpe said that she felt “very fortunate to receive this award”.
