Pharmacy London wins Flu Fighter Award

The London Pharmacy Reaching Carers’ team have won the NHS Flu Fighter Carer’s Award 2017.

Led by Rekha Shah from Pharmacy London, Kenny Gibson, head of public health commissioning at NHS England, and Julia Ellis, consultant in carer identification, the Reaching Carers’ team worked with London pharmacies to make the most of every contact they had with carers. With the help of posters and images, which were used with pharmacies and on social media, London pharmacy teams vaccinated approximately 9,300 carers – a 61 per cent increase from last year’s figure.

The Awards celebrate the inspirational work flu fighters have undertaken to raise awareness of the importance of the flu vaccination. This achievement means community pharmacy representatives have won the Award each year since it was created in 2015.

Tesco Pharmacy was also shortlisted for the Flu Fighter Carers’ Award and Allisons Chemist in Cockermouth, Cumbria was shortlisted for the Flu Fighter + Award.
