PSNC and NPA to hold flu vaccination webinar

The PSNC and NPA are holding a joint 90-minute webinar to explain how the new flu vaccination service will work and how to make it a success in your pharmacy.

The webinar, Flu vaccinations: How to make a success of the new service, will take place on Wednesday 16 September at 7.30pm.

Alastair Buxton, director of NHS Services at PSNC, and Leyla Hannbeck, head of pharmacy services at the NPA will talk through all the details pharmacy teams need to know and explain where pharmacies can find the resources to get up and running, as well as being on hand to answer any questions.

The webinar will help pharmacy teams to:

• Understand exactly how the service will work and how to make the declaration of competence
• Be familiar with the data capture requirements for the service
• Know how to get patient consent and claim for payment
• Meet the pharmacist responsibilities for delivering a patient group direction (PGD) service (do's and don’ts)
• Understand the importance of different vaccine excipients
• Understand indemnity insurance
• Take advantage of the full range of support available, including the NPA flu training.

Contractors and pharmacy team members who will be involved in the service are encouraged to sign up and tune in and, as the webinar is a joint event with PSNC, non-NPA members will also be able to watch.
