Smokefree campaign to launch in New Year

Public Health England (PHE) will be launching its Smokefree January campaign again in the New Year, and pharmacies across England are being encouraged to get involved.

PHE is inviting pharmacists to help distribute Quit Cards to smokers in January, to drive motivation to give up smoking support and sign up people to their stop smoking services. The Quit Cards, which are available to pharmacies free of charge, act as a conversation starter and highlight the range of Smokefree support tools available.

According to Government statistics, nearly one in five adults smoke and there are around 90,000 regular smokers aged between 11 and 15, while the habit causes 17 per cent of all deaths in people aged 35 and over.
