Treat it right

New research commissioned by Nurofen Express has revealed that 40 per cent of pharmacy customers suffer from a headache at least once a week, yet over half (52 per cent) do not regularly treat their headaches with medication. Of those customers who do use medicines to treat their headaches, the findings revealed that 55 per cent choose paracetamol, despite ibuprofen being recommended as a first line treatment for tension type headaches by the British Association for the Study of Headaches.

Dr Andrew Dowson, from the Headache Services at King’s College Hospital, comments: “Evidence supports the notion that ibuprofen is effective as a headache treatment, most likely working directly on pain as well as by reducing inflammation.”
