CPPE: Learning disabilities learning campaign

Around 1.2 million people in England have a learning disability, which is about two per cent of the population. Pharmacy professionals are ideally placed to support patients with a learning disability and their carers by listening to their concerns and optimising their medicines, which is why the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) has based its latest learning campaign on the topic.

CPPE has designed the campaign for pharmacy professionals to reflect on their current approach to supporting people with a learning disability and boost their knowledge of what learning disabilities are, their causes and severity, as well as how to manage consultations effectively.

The six-week campaign begins on 13 March and includes weekly challenges that will allow pharmacy professionals to assess their knowledge about learning disabilities and help their teams take the necessary steps to support patients in the pharmacy.

TM's series on learning disabilities, which is based on CPPE's distance learning programme on Learning disabilities, is designed to give pharmacy technicians an overview and better understanding of this area of practice. Part one is available now and each subsequent part will be available over the next four weeks.
