Wales considers e-cigs ban

The Welsh Assembly has proposed a ban on the use of electronic cigarettes in enclosed public spaces, and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in Wales has welcomed the move. In the Welsh Assembly Government’s White Paper, Listening to you: Your Health Matters, health and social services minster Mark Drakeford AM argues that the use of e-cigarettes in enclosed public places could reverse the progress of the smoking ban by making smoking behaviour socially acceptable, as well as causing more people to become addicted to nicotine.

Jocelyn Parkes, director for RPS Wales, commented: “It’s right that the Welsh Government has drawn our attention to the highly addictive nature of nicotine. Unless we act now, there’s a risk of a new generation becoming addicted to this drug.”
