Rosalind Jones was bowled over when her area manager nominated her for the Retails Skills Award and even more so when the judges endorsed his decision

LloydsPharmacy area manager Behrooz Vahedifar nominated Rosalind Jones for the Retails Skills Award for a powerful yet simple reason: her work on the shop floor and in the dispensary is of an exceptional standard and demonstrates a capability level the company aims to have many more of its staff at. The judges agreed with his verdict, bestowing upon the supervisor and dispensing assistant a Highly Commended in the Retail Skills category, which was sponsored by Precision Marketing Group.

Rosalind has only worked at the pharmacy in New Haw, Surrey, for a few years, but she drew on previous experience to help her progress in her part-time role. “I love working for a small shop where you know the customers and can be part of the community,” she says.

Being split between the shop floor and dispensary suits Rosalind as she enjoys both supply and advice functions. She acts as branch manager Maryann Algar’s right hand woman, running through what needs doing in the morning, deputising for her when required, and setting priorities for the rest of the team. Rosalind’s colleagues are hugely important to her, and she has an instrumental role in training, saying: “It is great to know that myself and the team have a voice and we all work together well to deliver a high level of service to our community.”

Rosalind is delighted to have done so well at the Awards, saying: “It is very nice to be recognised. I’m going to carry on doing what I’m doing because I enjoy helping my customers and the business. I love what I do.”
