As the seasons change, so will the type of advice and product recommendations that pharmacy teams will offer to customers. To help, here is TM’s round up some of the products that can get customers summer ready

With summer in full swing, people will be setting their sights on getting outdoors and being active, whether at home or abroad. But while the warmer weather can be fun and games, the summer months are a time when health hazards are rife. From staying safe in the sun and keeping pesky insects at bay to managing hayfever and getting prepared for a holiday, there’s a whole host of self care advice and products that can help people manage these health concerns and prevent them from putting a dampener on customers’ summers.

Clarityn is a one-a-day tablet that provides max-strength, all day symptom relief from allergy symptoms, says manufacturer Bayer Healthcare. The only branded tablet to contain loratadine, Clarityn provides relief from a runny nose, sneezing, itchy watery eyes and itchy nose or throat, the company continues. Clarityn Allergy Tablets are available in packs of seven, 14, 30 and 60 tablets. Also in the range is a peach flavoured syrup for children aged two years and over, and a fast melt format – Clarityn Rapide – which is available in a 10 tablet pack.

Soleve Sunburn Relief is the only licensed medicine for mild to moderate sunburn that combines the painkilling action of ibuprofen with a soothing moisturiser. Suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age, Soleve is specially designed to deliver therapeutic levels of ibuprofen directly into sunburnt skin, precisely where it is needed, explains manufacturer Dendron. It also contains isopropyl myristate, an emollient that soothes and moisturises the skin by trapping water, rehydrating skin and promoting normal healing, the company adds.

The media campaign will comprise TV, sponsorship, expert education and digital. This year’s Pirinase advert takes a closer look at the science behind hayfever, explaining the body’s response to allergens, as well as highlighting Pirinase’s ability to help block allergens, GSK adds. The TV activity will be complemented with an ‘always on’ approach with ITV Weather sponsorship between March and September.
