Hay fever causes sleepless nights

As the pollen count soared earlier this summer, Boots Pharmaceuticals highlighted the impact of hay fever symptoms on sufferers at night by releasing a million ‘petals’ into the London night sky. The petals were designed to represent how pollen falls when the air temperature cools at the end of the day, triggering or exacerbating symptoms.

A recent study by Boots Pharmaceuticals revealed that 64 per cent of hay fever sufferers experience disturbed sleep – a problem that Boots has dubbed ‘insneezia’ – with sufferers losing an average of 72 minutes’ sleep each night.

Angela Chalmers, Pharmacist, Boots UK commented: “Treating hay fever effectively is not just about managing it during the day, finding a treatment that works for you and taking the right steps before your head hits the pillow can help to ensure you get a good night’s sleep.”
