Infirst Healthcare is on a mission to re-educate pharmacy teams on how best to treat osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal pain.

The company has partnered with Arthritis Research UK to debunk the myth that joint pain is “just wear and tear” and instead promote the message “tear, flare, repair”, with the ‘repair’ element being key. “Flaring joint pain can have a severe impact on people’s lives,” said Tony Kilbourn from Infirst Healthcare. “Education on flaring joint pain is imperative and Arthritis Research UK shares our DNA for science research. Together we will drive this much needed understanding.”

The company has also announced the launch of a pharmacy-only medicine in the joint pain category – Flarin. Flarin is an oral soft capsule containing 200mg ibuprofen formulated for the relief of rheumatic or muscular pain as well as pain related to non-serious arthritic conditions. It will also relieve swelling and ease stiffness of the joints, explained Infirst. The OTC product is due to launch early in the new year.
