Pharmacies promote telecare technology

Independent pharmacy group Jhoots Pharmacy is to start advising customers on telecare technology from next month, following a new partnership with manufacturer Centra Pulse. The Jhoots Pharmacy team has been trained to provide tailored advice to customers on how telecare support, such as personal alarms, fall detector sensors and trackable GPS devices, can help them to live more independently, manage their care needs and avoid hospital admissions.

The announcement follows research by Centra Pulse which found that one is six people over 65 have concealed a serious injury, illness or accident from friends or family, while only half would discuss their care needs with their GP. Manjit Jhooty, Jhoots Pharmacy managing director, said: “We want to be able to provide a proactive and personal service to customers and this fantastic new partnership with Centra Pulse allows us to do just that.”

Wendy Darling, Centra Pulse managing director, added: “We believe pharmacists are excellently placed to break down the stigma around care and help customers find the right solutions.”
