Supporting medicines adherence

A new campaign is aiming to raise awareness of medicines adherence issues and educate healthcare professionals about possible solutions.

Developed by Omnicell company MTS Medication Technologies, ‘Adherence: Let’s take care of it’ is encouraging healthcare professionals to learn about and discuss the benefits of adherence aids via educational materials, a website (www.letstakecareofit.com) and Twitter (@adherencewecare). In addition, MTS is planning to trial a prototype of its ‘Clever Card’ technology within the next six months.

Clever Card prompts and records medicines doses and sends a message to carers and/or pharmacists to let them know when medicines have been taken. James Murray, MTS sales and marketing director, said: “To make a real difference to adherence, the wider healthcare community needs to come together and recognise that there are innovative technology solutions available now.”
