Recognition of Excellence 2018

Emma Moore

Dedicated to giving people the best care she can provide, Emma Moore displays all of the core communication skills a pharmacy team member requires – being a good listener, asking relevant questions and showing empathy

More than two decades after going into pharmacy straight from school, Emma Moore has worked her way up through the ranks and is now a pharmacy technician, stop smoking advisor and health champion. This latest qualification led to Parade Pharmacy in Chorleywood becoming the first healthy living pharmacy in Hertfordshire, and is one of the many reasons why Emma was awarded a Highly Commended in the Service Excellence category.

From identifying that a child with a persistent cough had undiagnosed asthma, to putting a patient who was confused about her complicated medicines regimen onto a monitored dosage system, Emma always strives for excellence. She says: “I talk to customers about their lives as well as their health. I’m a good listener and try to be as empathetic as possible so that I can treat everyone as best I can.” Her efforts haven’t gone unnoticed, as she was encouraged to enter this year’s Awards by staff at the head office of Avicenna, the independent pharmacy support group to which Parade Pharmacy belongs, as well as by husband and wife pharmacists at her shop, Hitesh and Rajdula Dodhia.

Complimented by Awards judge and principle associate of Pharmacy Complete Mike Holden for her “excellent patient focus”, Emma comments: “I was surprised to be asked to enter the awards and didn’t really think anything of it after I’d submitted my entry until I got a phone call saying I was a finalist. But the event was amazing, everyone was really friendly, and it is so nice to be recognised for what I do.”
