Pharmacy advising customers.jpg

Question time

The questions you ask customers are important to help you understand what’s wrong and offer appropriate advice.

The questions you ask a customer when they come into the pharmacy are important because they help you to understand what’s wrong and make an appropriate recommendation. WWHAM is a set of questions that is designed to help you do this:

Who is the medicine for?
What are the symptoms?
How long have the symptoms been present?
What Action has already been taken?
Are they taking any other Medication for this or any other reason?

You don’t have to ask these questions in the above order, and sometimes a customer might give you some of this information without you asking. As long as you engage the customer in conversation, you should be able to find out the information you need in order to make a recommendation.
