Helping customers affected by cancer

As a medicines counter assistant, your role is a broad one. Increasingly, it now also involves a public health element – providing self care advice, raising awareness and helping customers with serious conditions, including cancer.

More and more people are surviving cancer in the UK, thanks to improvements in diagnosis and treatment, but many will continue to live with the condition.

Each year, over 330,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK, and it is now estimated that by 2020, almost half of us will be diagnosed with cancer during our lifetime.
