Infirst launches Flarin lipid ibuprofen capsules

Infirst Healthcare has launched Flarin 200mg lipid ibuprofen soft capsules. It is initially available in LloydsPharmacy stores and will be rolled out to other pharmacies at the end of March.

Indicated for the relief of rheumatic or muscular pain, back pain, and the pain of non-serious arthritic conditions caused by swelling, stiffness and inflammation, Flarin claims to be the only OTC lipid-formulated ibuprofen clinically proven to relieve flaring joint pain.

According to a recently published study, FLARE, 1,200mg/day of lipid ibuprofen was shown to be as effective as prescription-strength ibuprofen (2,400 mg/day) at reducing joint pain. In addition, taking two 200mg capsules (400 mg) of Flarin three times a day for five days gave 86 per cent of patients improvement in their flare-ups. Patients also reported a reduction in stiffness and swelling.

Data from the study also demonstrated fewer incidences of GI adverse events with Flarin than prescription-strength ibuprofen capsules.

Infirst Healthcare has developed a comprehensive CPD package and POS materials to support pharmacy teams during the launch.

Flarin 200mg soft capsules is available in packs of 30 and retails at £9.95. For a limited period an introductory price of £7.95 is being offered by LloydsPharmacy.
