Giving feedback to GPs
It is important that GPs understand why pharmacies should be actively involved in providing the NMS. The NMS involves an intervention in which the pharmacist will provide advice, information and reassurance to address patients' concerns during the first month of a new treatment. This has been shown to improve adherence to medication. GPs should be made aware of the intervention and follow up stages and when these conversations will take place.
