New Pharmacy Quality Scheme
The new Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) started in September 2021. New areas included Look Alike Sound Alike errors, sepsis, identifying people who would benefit from weight management, remote consultation skills, checking inhaler technique and training on health inequalities.
New NMS conditions
Thirteen conditions were added to the New Medicines Service (NMS) in the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework from September:
- Acute coronary syndrome
- Atrial fibrillation
- Coronary heart disease
- Epilepsy
- Glaucoma
- Gout
- Heart failure
- Hypercholesterolaemia
- Long term risks of venous thromboembolism/embolism
- Osteoporosis
- Parkinson’s disease
- Stroke/transient ischemic attack
- Urinary incontinence and retention.
