Liz Fidler and Ellen Williams have been appointed as president and vice president respectively of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK), with the official handover taking place on 9 February at the Association’s professional committee meeting.

Responding to her appointment as president and addressing the national officers, Liz said: “I am honoured to take up the post of president of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK. This is a time of unprecedented change for the NHS and healthcare provision more widely, and with change comes opportunity. I strongly believe in the need for a leadership body that proudly represents champions and supports the professional development of pharmacy technicians. I pledge to lead the profession and increase our network so that we can promote the practice and advancement of pharmacy technicians.”

The board of directors has thanked outgoing president Tess Fenn for her outstanding commitment to APTUK, her leadership as president and for her dedication to advancing the role of the pharmacy technician profession in the delivery of patient-centred care. Ms Fenn will take on the advisory role of immediate past president and will remain secretary of the European Association of Pharmacy Technicians.
