Hana, a progestogen-only oral contraceptive pill containing 75 micrograms of desogestrel is now available to buy over-the-counter following a consultation with a pharmacist, manufacturer HRA Pharma has announced. This POM to P reclassification will enable women in the UK to access an oral contraceptive without requiring a prescription, and recognises the increasing role pharmacy plays in primary care, the company adds.
HRA Pharma has developed extensive training to support pharmacists’ consultations and to help them establish the suitability of Hana for each individual woman, available on the Hana healthcare professional website.
