Tackling burnout

New research conducted by Kalms has revealed that 87 per cent of Brits experienced burnout during the 12 months prior to February 2021.

New research conducted by Kalms has revealed that 87 per cent of Brits experienced burnout during the 12 months prior to February 2021. The research also revealed that while 44 per cent of those seeking help for burnout spoke to their GP, only 24 per cent discussed their symptoms with a pharmacist, highlighting an opportunity for pharmacy teams to support customers with their health and wellbeing.

When it came to alleviating symptoms, some 47 per cent took up physical activity, 35 per cent tried mindfulness or meditation, and 76 per cent of respondents said they would consider using a herbal remedy. “Results from the Kalms survey indicate consumers would prefer to take a more holistic approach when it comes to managing their symptoms, with 34 per cent opting for a herbal remedy over a prescribed medicine,” says Elizabeth Hughes-Gapper, Kalms brand manager.

The brand has recently expanded its range to include Kalms Rhodiola, a traditional herbal remedy that aims to relieve stress, exhaustion, and fatigue, helping to fight the effects of burnout, explains the manufacturer LanesHealth.
