module menu icon Why do we get allergies?

An allergic reaction happens when the body comes into contact with foreign particles (allergens) it doesn’t recognise. This causes the body’s immune system to be triggered, which produces antibodies to attack these particles. As a result, histamine is released. It is histamine that causes the symptoms of allergies.

It is not really known why some people develop allergies while others don’t. However, you will find that some of your customers are predisposed to allergies and can be described as being ‘atopic’.
