Answer

“Burnout is recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an occupational phenomenon. While it is not a medical or mental health condition, it has been classified as a syndrome, meaning a collection of symptoms or signs associated with a specific health-related cause.” This definition is provided by The Burnout Report January 2025 by Mental Health UK.

The report found that 91 per cent of UK adults experienced high or extreme levels of pressure or stress in the past year.

Many people may not be aware that burnout is a serious condition and use the term when they feel exhausted from life. Founded in stress, unaddressed burnout can lead to serious issues, including significant periods of time off work.
