Period poverty

Many women and people with periods struggle to afford period products when menstruating. Here's how you could help them.

Pharmacy technician Vicky notices a young teen hovering awkwardly in front of the store’s menstrual products.

She goes over and discretely asks: “Hi there, do you need a hand choosing anything?” The girl answers she does, and Vicky begins to walk her through her options.

“Thank you,” says the young woman, taking just one pack of menstrual pads to the till. “Are you sure you don’t need any more?” asks Vicky. The girl pauses. “Well… maybe, but I’m not sure I can afford more than this right now…” she answers.
