AAH: 'STOP' at pharmacies for minor ailments

AAH Pharmaceuticals is working with its All About Health members to help reduce the number of people making unnecessary visits to A&E or their GP. Carrying giant 'STOP' lollipop sticks, members stopped locals outside pharmacies to encourage them to consider visiting a pharmacy for their minor ailments.

The cost to the NHS of treating minor ailments is estimated at £2 billion annually, and approximately 800,000 patients visited A&E in the past year because they couldn't get a GP appointment, something that AAH believes can be tackled by pharmacy. €We have been helping spread the message that there is no need to visit a GP or A&E for ailments such as coughs, colds, eczema and athlete's foot,€ says Stephen Spillett, channel marketing manager, AAH. €We need better education of the services pharmacy offers to chip away at the huge numbers turning up at A&E.€
