National Pharmacy Association (NPA) members supported this year's Ask Your Pharmacist Week (10-16 November) by encouraging people to people to 'come to pharmacy first' for advice on staying well this winter, avoiding unnecessary GP and A&E visits. The campaign tied in with Pharmacy Voice's 'Treat Yourself Better With Pharmacist Advice' initiative as well as NHS England's campaign and aims to sustain its messages throughout this winter and beyond. NPA members can still download resources from npa.co.uk/ayp2014, including posters, press release templates, social media updates, a Powerpoint presentation and guidance on giving excellent self-care advice.
Stephen Fishwick, the NPA's head of communications, said: €Ask Your Pharmacist Week is a great platform for positioning community pharmacies as the first port of call for medicines and medicines advice in the public mind. We want to get across the idea that millions of people go to their doctor for cough and cold treatments unnecessarily €“ and that local pharmacies can help treat most conditions conveniently and effectively.€
