Pharmacy is at the forefront of a new campaign from NHS England to ease winter pressures on GPs and A&E departments. Building on last year's 'The earlier, the better' campaign, and reinforcing Pharmacy Voice's 'Treat Yourself Better' initiative, 'Feeling under the weather?' urges people to use community pharmacy as the first port of call for common aliments and basic health advice, and is particularly aimed at those aged over 65.
An evaluation found that last year's campaign was recognised by 44 per cent of the public, while 11 per cent were more willing to visit a pharmacy for health advice after having seen the campaign. Welcoming the initiative, Rob Darracott, chief executive of Pharmacy Voice, said: €This approach will deliver benefits for patients and will reduce the burden on general practice and A&E during the busy winter season.€
