Recognition of Excellence Awards 2021
Abdul Mauzer
“Passionate and hardworking” are just two of the reasons why Abdul Mauzer scored highly in the Pharmacy Champion category.
In nominating Abdul, Day Lewis’ pharmacy services co-ordinator Azimah Peeroo highlights his achievements not only in his own pharmacy in Tower Hamlets, London, but also in another nearby. “Abdul has successfully led his team in Old Montague Street to provide the best service to patients,” says Azimah. “This year, he excelled even further when he noticed our pharmacy in Whitechapel was struggling.”
Abdul researched the issues, talking to his local network of GP surgeries, the county council, the drugs team, nearby pharmacies and other local businesses to find out what was going on behind the scenes. “He discussed his findings with the regional support manager, in the hope of helping improve that pharmacy too,” Azimah adds.
Fuelled by the challenge, Abdul agreed to help manage the Whitechapel team, visiting them daily and building strong relationships. “The team is now working safely, efficiently, and has perfect processes and foundations,” says Azimah.
Impressed by Abdul’s achievements, RoE judge Leyla Hannbeck, chief executive of the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies, says: “It’s great to see thinking outside of the box and collaborative working like this.”
