Some parents want their babies to be vegetarian. In a young baby, obtaining a nutritionally balanced diet is very important. In theory, a vegetarian diet can supply all the required nutrients, but there needs to be careful consideration to ensure that this happens in practice.

  • Which nutrients might be lacking in a vegetarian diet? Which vitamins and minerals? Protein? Fat?
  • For each nutrient that you have identified as potentially being at risk of low intake, suggest vegetarian foods that would help to ensure recommended intakes.
