Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) is a term often used to describe a fungal infection (or dermatophytosis) of the foot.1 Athlete’s foot can occur on moist and waterlogged skin, usually between the fourth and fifth toes, or on dry, flaky skin around the heels or elsewhere on the foot.2
