Skills4Pharmacy apprenticeships

Skills4 offers government-funded apprenticeships across the healthcare sector, including for pharmacy.

The offering includes a Level 2 apprenticeship for counter and dispensing assistants. The course is suitable for those in community, hospital and prison pharmacy practice and must be completed under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician. The 12-month course, plus three months for Apprentice Assessment, is designed to build the behaviours and skills to allow assistants to confidently handle dispensing processes and provide high-quality patient support and counter conversations.

Additionally, Skills4 provides a Level 3 apprenticeship for Pharmacy Technicians, allowing trainees to become a GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician. During the 24-month course, learners will develop their clinical expertise, promotion of safe practices and understanding of regulatory requirements. The course also covers the provision of clinical services and the effective use of systems.

As well as helping to build key skills and behaviours in the pharmacy, the Level 2 and Level 3 courses include integrated English and Maths in the curriculum, with the Level 2 also covering British Values.

For those looking to build their management skills, the Level 3 Team Leader apprenticeship helps to develop confidence in communication, leadership and project management. The course lasts for 12 months with an additional three months for Apprenticeship Assessment.
