Charity repeats offer of back-to-school support for pharmacy workers

The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust has announced it is to repeat its offer of ‘back to school’ financial aid for community pharmacy workers for a second year.

Grants of up to £150 per eligible child will be offered to help those currently working in community pharmacy cover costs such as school uniforms, stationery and travel.

Applicants must be working in a community pharmacy or be a registered pharmacist or pharmacy technician, and must be in receipt of universal credit or child tax credit for school-aged children and have household savings under £4,000.

Additionally, employees must have been employed in an eligible occupation in the UK for at least five years.

The fund, which will provide up to £100,000 support to eligible applicants, opened on June 9 and will remain open until July 1 or until the budget is fully allocated.

Professor Anna Vignoles, director at the Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust, commented: “Following the success of last year’s initiative, we’re pleased to bring back the Schools Essential Grant for those working in community pharmacy.

“Education is a critical pathway to opportunity and social mobility, and we know that the costs of getting children ready for school each year can weigh heavily on family budgets.

“It is our hope that this extra support will once again give families the breathing space they need during what can be a financially demanding time.”
