Cadbury Heath Pharmacy and Health Clinic is an independent community pharmacy situated on the outskirts of Bristol. Originally a branch of Boots UK, the pharmacy has only been operating since April 2021, but has evidently gone from strength to strength, serving a mixed demographic in a deprived area. “The pharmacy is proud to work with the local library and the local community support centre and food bank to not only promote healthy living but also ensure that those more vulnerable within the community have equal access to healthcare services,” says nominator and pharmacist, Simon Harris. 

In particular, the team recognised the need for the hypertension casefinding service and have been extremely proactive in its delivery. “This service has also opened doors for the provision of further healthy living advice and the opportunity to discuss weight management with patients,” adds Simon. “The pharmacist has referred appropriate patients to the NHS digital weight management programme or the local weight management services.”

The judges were wowed by the effort the team put into delivering the very best service to their patients. This is an “excellent pharmacy demonstrating all the criteria of a high performing team. I would jump at a chance at working there!” says Raj Nutan, healthcare strategy and services director at Alliance Healthcare and Alphega Pharmacy UK. “Turning around a pharmacy business by putting their community and a desire to address health inequalities at the centre is truly remarkable,” adds Claire Steele, APTUK president. “The team is a credit to their community and should be very proud of their achievements.”
