The Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) advises on various nutrition and health matters to UK government organisations such as Public Health England (PHE).

The SACN vitamin D working group was established in 2011 to review the Dietary Reference Values for vitamin D and analyse whether the current recommendations were still appropriate.

A new SACN report was published in July 2016 and recommended the following:1

Everyone over one year of age should consume10µgof vitamin D daily
As a precaution, all babies from birth up to one year of age should consume8.5 to 10µgof vitamin D daily
