National BV Day extends to month of April

Following the success of last year’s National Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) Day, this year’s campaign has been extended to run for the entire month of April.

With the theme ‘It’s Time to Talk’, National BV Month aims to encourage women to talk more openly about intimate health and seek expert advice and treatment for their intimate health concerns. The campaign, which is organised by women’s health company Balance Activ, is currently featuring in national print and broadcast media and is being supported by media medic from Embarrassing Bodies, Dr Dawn Harper.

Community pharmacies are being encouraged to support the campaign by taking advantage of product promotions and in-store advertising.

Joel Sidney, Balance Activ head of sales and marketing, said: “Despite the prevalence of BV, our research suggests that around 47 per cent of women are in the dark and don’t know what BV is or what symptoms to look out for.”
