New research for Puressentiel, manufacturer of evidence-based natural remedies for muscle and joint pain, has revealed that three out of four adults experience aches and pains on a regular basis. While problems increase with age, the data confirms muscular pain is common across all age groups, with 70 per cent of 18- to 24-year-olds and 79 per cent of over-55s saying they suffered muscular or joint pain on a regular basis. For the younger age group, shoulders (30 per cent) and neck (28 per cent) were highlighted as the most problematic, while shoulders (34 per cent) and knees (30 per cent) were the most common pain points among the older participants. Overall, gardening was found to be the most common trigger for trouble (29 per cent), followed by exercise (28 per cent), lifting a heavy object (26 per cent) and housework (21 per cent). The most common pain management strategies were taking a long bath or shower (77 per cent), over-the-counter painkillers (72 per cent) and putting up with the pain and just resting (71 per cent).
