Now this module turns its attention to some of the infections that can affect the reproductive system, most – but not all – of which are transmitted through sexual contact.
Many sexually transmitted infections (STIs) have similar symptoms, namely:
- Unusual discharge from the vagina, penis or anus
- Pain when urinating
- Lumps, blisters, sores or itching around the genitals
- A rash
- Unusual vaginal bleeding, for example after sex or between periods
- Discomfort in the genital or lower abdominal area, sometimes during sex.
