As you are likely to see people with a learning disability in your sector of practice, it is important to identify a support network of those that can offer you help and advice when you are supporting people with a learning disability.

  • Make contact with a learning disability liaison nurse at your place of work or at a local NHS Trust
  • Make contact with pharmacy professionals working in GP services, as a way to feed back information or concerns regarding specific patients
  • Consider joining the College of Mental Health Pharmacy to give you access to other pharmacy professionals working with people with a learning disability
  • Develop links with support groups and charities.
