CPPE on... leadership

CPPE has released the latest cohorts of its ‘Leading for change’ programme for pharmacy professionals looking to develop their leadership skills

Leading for change is a fully-funded programme open to mid-to-senior pharmacy technicians who work in primary or secondary care, have completed foundation level practice and are working towards advanced level practice.

The programme aims to support pharmacy professionals taking on clinical leadership roles across healthcare organisations to support medicines optimisation and deliver better patient outcomes. It gives participants the opportunity to reflect on their own leadership style and identify strengths and areas of development, as well as enabling them to lead on a project that delivers the priorities of their pharmacy service.

Programme structure

The programme is delivered over six months and takes a blended learning approach, consisting of four online modules supported by two regional workshops and workplace learning.

The learning covers topics such as leadership styles and behaviours, developing and managing services, inspiring teams, and pharmacy within the wider healthcare system. Additional optional workshops and insight days are also offered during the programme.

Participants are expected to undertake at least 2.5 hours of self-directed learning per week, in addition to time spent on the workplace project.

Applications

Participants should have a foundation in leadership, either through completion of a previous leadership programme – such as NHS Leadership Academy’s Edward Jenner programme, relevant CPPE programmes, or in-house training – or through previous experience in a leadership role.

Applicants are required to complete an online application form with a statement detailing their reasons for applying, how they plan to use the programme to support their organisation.

Upcoming closing dates for applications include:

  • Midlands and the East: 1 April
  • North: 8 April
  • London and the South East: 29 April
  • South: 20 May.
