module menu icon The role of pharmacy

With some 13 million UK households owning a pet, there is huge potential for pharmacy to offer help and advice.

Pets give us a great deal of joy and companionship, and it’s important to care for them well. Parasitic infections create misery for pets, not to mention in some cases for owners too, as fleas can give nasty bites and animal infestations can sometimes be passed on to humans. A key problem is that pet owners may not be using preventative treatments sufficiently.

Pharmacies stock a variety of products for both prevention and treatment of animal parasites. Your customers, however, may not realise you stock these products or that you can provide them with useful information to help their furry friends. Discuss in your team how you can raise the profile and visibility of the pet medicines you stock.

Do you feel confident in selling these medicines? Can you give accurate advice about them? Perhaps you feel you need further training? Those who are leading the Team Tuesday training will find accompanying learning prompts and teaching notes here.
