There are many conditions and diseases that can affect the eyes, most of which require treatment from a GP. However, there are some minor conditions that can be treated effectively with OTC preparations.
There are a number of minor eye conditions that you are likely to see in the pharmacy. Due to the delicate nature of the eyes, problems must be identified carefully to ensure that the right treatment is recommended.
Objectives
This module will tell you how to:
- Recognise the symptoms of minor eye conditions
- Understand the actions and uses of different types of eye drops, ointment and washes
- Offer additional advice to the customer on how to manage the condition
- Know when to refer to the pharmacist.
